All of us have heard the story of Aladdin and The Ginny in our childhood. The most fascinating part about that story was, whenever Aladdin used to wish something, The Ginny would answer, “Your wish is my command!” and The Ginny would do whatever Aladdin wants. And literally whatever! What if we got The Ginny in our life? What if someone will come in our life and say, “Your wish is my command!”? I bet we will never complain about anything in our life then.
The good news is, we already have our own personal Ginny. Yes. Everyone has his personal Ginny who follows his each and every command. It is nothing but one of our own body parts. It is our own ‘Brain’. God has sent us on this planet with this magnificent gift. And the truth is our brain is capable of accomplish virtually anything we desire. Our brain has unbelievable capacity. Beyond our imagination!
According to me ‘Brain’ is the most important organ in our body. And it is also one of the most neglected body parts. People go to gym for various reasons; to preserve their heart, to have good looking physique, to have six pack abs etc. but majority of the people take their brain for granted. If you are going in gym and working out for three hours, does not necessarily mean you are also making your brain function at its optimum.
We have seen many examples of people who have lost their body parts such as their hands, legs or even eyes but still they become successful in their lives just because their brain can function at its optimum level. The best example of this is Nick Vujicic. He was born without limbs. Below is his photograph. He is a well-known international motivational speaker.
Thanks to advancements in medical science field due to which physically challenged people just have to make minor adjustments and they can live ‘ok’ life. But slightest damage to our brain stem, which connects the large brain to the spinal cord, can produce irreversible coma. And the person who is in coma will continue to live with all other body parts functioning normally, except consciousness. The brain is the only body organ we can not live without. Medical science also, till now is not able to replicate brain and also it does not have any method for brain transplantation.
We can control and master our environment only if our brain is in proper working condition. Even if we want to move our fingers, the command has to come from our brain. All the organs in our body will function properly due to commands they get from our brain. When person’s body part is paralyzed the problem is not in his body part but in his brain. Our brain is always waiting for our every command. It is brain’s duty to carry out anything we ask for. And to carry out our commands brain requires only two things (1) Oxygen in our blood and (2) Iota of glucose.
Our brain weighs approximately 1.4Kg i.e. about 2% of our body weight. As far as functionality is concerned brain defies the fastest modern computer big time. Our brain is capable of processing 300 Crores bits of information per second. Approximately 280 Crores neurons are there in our brain. Each of these neurons is small little independent computer capable of processing 10 Lacs of bits information. Wow. That’s much more than enough.
But with all this great power with us, why can’t we get what we want? Why can’t we get the desired result in all the areas of our life? When our brain is always saying, “Your wish is my command!” why the hell our all the wishes are not becoming true?
Here is the answer; we got this ultimate superlative computer called ‘Brain’ with no user’s manual with it. Isn’t that frustrating? Well, depends on what you choose to do. If we really want to take control of this ultimate resource given to us by the almighty, all we need to do is take conscious efforts to exercise our brain.
There are many ways through which we can exercise our brain. These exercises can be divided in to two categories. Physical Exercises and Mental Exercises; I call them ‘Brain Stimulation Exercises’. I conduct various training programs for students as well as for elder people based on Brain Stimulation Exercises. In my training programs on Brain Stimulation I make participants to do some of the exercises. It’s real fun to do.
For some of us, it might be a really boring subject to understand. For me it’s the most interesting one. My passion of understanding human behavior enabled me to study it. I learned the art and science of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming). I became certified NLP Practitioner (ANLP, UK).
I am fascinated by NLP and doing my best to practice it in my daily life and especially in my training programs. It is the most advanced personal development tool I have ever come across. Now I can surely say that I have at least the introduction part of the manual of my own Brain. Ha-ha.
My further posts will definitely include some of the concepts of NLP and working of a brain.
One last point about world’s one of the most respected scientists and a genius person Albert Einstein. When he died, scientists analyzed his brain. They wanted to find out what was so special about his brain that he was able to invent so many things in one life span. They found The Genius Albert Einstein had not utilized more than 10% of his brain’s total potential. Now we need to ask one question to ourselves, “How much percentage of our brain’s total potential, we are utilizing?”
Keep Guessing. :-)
